Dr. Rick Quax is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Computational Science Lab at the University of Amsterdam and a Resident Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies. As an expert in complex systems and information theory, he develops innovative models and data analyses to tackle complex challenges and wicked problems, together with his team of young researchers. His application domains vary from biomedicine to organized criminal networks. His approach combines activities such as simulations, network inference, optimization algorithms, and AI learning techniques to tackle real-world challenges. His broad expertise, coupled with his leadership roles in organizations such as NetSci.NL and the Dutch Institute for Emergent Phenomena, put him in the forefront of digital innovation.
